Bayern Munich have reached a deal in principle with Fulham to sign midfielder João Palhinha for up to €56 million ($60.4m), sources report. The transfer, which includes €51 million up front plus €5 million in add-ons, is a club-record sale for Fulham.

Palhinha, 28, is expected to sign a four-year contract with Bayern. Currently, he is part of the Portugal squad preparing for Friday’s Euro 2024 quarterfinal against France and will finalize the deal after the tournament.

This move concludes Bayern’s year-long pursuit of Palhinha. A previous deal between the two clubs fell through last summer due to Fulham’s inability to find a replacement. Palhinha had even flown to Germany for a medical before Fulham canceled the transfer.

Palhinha joined Fulham from Sporting CP in 2022 and made 79 appearances, earning the club’s Player of the Year award in his first season.
